Open Rinoplasty
Result at 3 months

Rinoplasty
The Rinoplasty, or surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common of all esthetic surgery procedures. Rinoplasty can reduce the size of the nose, change the shape of the tip or the dorsum, reduce the width of the nose and/or the nostrils or change the angle between the nose and the upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems.
Rhinoplasty usually takes an hour or two, though complicated procedures may take longer. During surgery the incision is made inside the nostrils (to avoid visible scars), the skin of the nose is separated form its supporting framework of bone and cartilage, which is then sculpted to the desired shape. Finally, nasal packing and external splint will be applied to protect the new shape of the nose.
Nasal packing is removed after 24 hours, stitches after 5 days and splints after 7 days. Most of the swelling and the bruising should disappear within 2 or so weeks (some subtle swelling will remain for several months). Return to sedentary work is possible a week or so following surgery.
