BREAST AUGMENTATION
- Breast augmentation, technically known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman's breast for a number of reasons:
- To enhance the body contour of a woman who, for personal reasons, feels her breast size is too small.
- To correct a reduction in breast volume after pregnancy.
- To balance a difference in breast size.
- As a reconstructive technique following breast surgery.
By inserting an implant behind each breast, the surgeon is able to increase a woman's bustline by one or more bra cup sizes. Brest augmentation can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but it won't necessarily cause other people to treat you differently.
The best candidates for breast augmentation are women who are looking better looking breasts, not necessarily perfect breasts.
Breast lift
Breastlift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to restore the esthetic balance between the position of the areola and the shape and volume of mammary gland, in the case of the sagging breasts (breast ptosis). Surgery consists in removing excess skin from around the areola, and possibly also from the bottom of the breast, reshaping the glandular tissue or adding volume with the insertion of an implant. In doing so, the shape of the breasts and the position of the areola are considerably improved.
- According to the final design of suture lines, breast lift techniques are classified as:
- concentric, periareolar;
- concentric, with short vertical scar and
- anchor-shaped mastopexy.
In electing a certain technique, the severity of the ptosis, volume of the gland, quality of the skin, areolar diameter, age and body constitution are key factors.
